Queensland LNP Solar for Renters Plan welcomed

Solutions for Climate Australia today welcomed the Queensland LNP’s announcement of their Supercharged Solar for Renters plan. 

“Queenslanders are facing challenges on many fronts. The Supercharged Solar for Renters plan not only addresses the cost of living crisis with households set to benefit from over $700 in savings, but they will be bringing down climate pollution by using clean, renewable energy,” said Dr. Barry Traill, Director of Solutions for Climate Australia

“We have just sweltered through the hottest February on record. Renters are more likely to live in homes that are vulnerable to heat and in hotter areas. Supporting them with rooftop solar to make cooling more affordable is an important health measure and will make Queensland more fair for people on low and middle incomes.

“Through last spring and summer, we tragically lost lives and homes to bushfires and survived major storms and flooding in Queensland. We know that climate change is making these disasters more likely and more extreme. Policies like the Supercharged Solar for Renters plan are part of the solution to bringing down climate pollution.

“In the lead up to the next Queensland election we look forward to more positive climate and energy policies from the LNP, and from all political parties,” finished Dr. Traill.
