Dr Barry Traill
Barry (BJ) leads the Solutions for Climate Australia project, working to create enduring bipartisanship in federal politics for decisive action on climate. An ecologist by training, BJ is one of Australia’s most successful environmental advocates and has led and co-led work on many major environmental campaigns. This has included work with Indigenous peoples to protect Outback landscapes, greatly expanding Australia’s marine park network, and getting in place controls on land-clearing in Queensland, which greatly reduced Australia’s greenhouse gas emissions. BJ has lived in country Australia all his life and is especially passionate about protecting nature, and working with people in regional and remote Australia. He lives on Jinabara lands in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.

Sophia Walter
Sophia is the Deputy Director for Solutions for Climate Australia, working on advocacy for bipartisan Federal Parliament action on climate change. Sophia’s role involves working with people and organisations to shift the dial on the Federal Government’s current commitments to act on climate change. Sophia’s professional background includes working with a range of environmental organisations in Australia, China and Botswana, including most recently the Pew Charitable Trusts. Sophia has worked in journalism, at a native title organisation and at a campaigning electorate office. She is particularly passionate about supporting people to be empowered to make decisions about and care for their country, in particular land justice for First Nations peoples. Sophia is a Queenslander and lives on Yuggera and Turrbal country in Brisbane.

Cristina Carvalho
Cristina is Solutions for Climate Operations Manager, providing administrative and financial support to the Solutions for Climate and CANA network support team. She has 20 years’ experience spanning business administration, consulting, marketing and public relations. With diverse experience in Australia and Brazil, Cristina brings a practical skill set and serious passion to the table. Cristina is based on the lands of the Worimi people (Port Stephens, NSW). She spends her spare time close to the ocean or keeping it simple in her garden.

Leigh Ewbank
Leigh is the Senior Climate Outreach Manager for Solutions for Climate Australia and a longtime community campaigner. Leigh supports communities across the country to have their voices heard and take action to inspire all political parties to strengthen their climate policies. Leigh has been campaigning for climate justice since the mid 2000s. Leigh coordinated Friends of the Earth's successful community campaigns for the repeal of laws that restricted wind farm projects; the establishment of ambitious Victorian Renewable Energy Targets; and strong Emissions Reduction Targets from the state government. These outcomes, among other community wins, helped Victoria achieve deep emissions cuts over the last decade. Leigh is a Victorian and lives on Wurundjeri country in Narrm/Melbourne.

Elly Baxter
Elly is a senior climate campaigner on the Solutions for Climate program, working to drive stronger climate policies in Federal Parliament. Elly has worked on award-winning media and communications campaigns in the arts, civil society and public health sectors. Prior to joining the climate movement she worked for more than a decade in leading theatre companies and ran a successful public relations consultancy. She volunteers with social justice organisations and enjoys participating in her community with her young family. Elly was raised in country NSW and now lives on Gadigal land in Sydney.

Erin Ryan
Erin is senior international climate campaigner with the Solutions for Climate Australia project, working to support global efforts to drive greater ambition in Australian climate policy. After over a decade working in international development, Erin was motivated to join the climate movement by seeing the first hand impacts of sea level rise and increasing extreme weather events on communities in the Pacific and South East Asia. She has a particular interest in working to defend the rights of women, people with disabilities and children under threat from climate change, and authored Save the Children International’s flagship report on intergenerational inequality, children’s rights and the climate crisis. Erin lives on the land of the Yalukit-Willam people on Boon Wurrung country in Naarm/Melbourne.

Annette Fale
Annette is the Joint Executive Assistant to the CEO of CANA and Senior Director of Solutions for Climate Australia Dr Barry Traill. Annette has over 25 years' experience in executive and strategy roles, has co-founded a NTFP in Aotearoa, been the CEO of a NTFP awarding Indigenous Youth Scholarships for University and being awarded a New Zealand Order of Merit! Annette walks 10kms each day and enjoys spending time with her husband and two teenage children.

Harvey Purse
Harvey Purse is a Campaigner at Solutions for Climate Australia. He provides campaign support for all areas of the Solutions team. He is currently studying a Master of International Relations at Griffith University. He brings skills developed in campaigning for human rights with local and international organisations over the last 20 years. Climate change and the environment has been an increasing component of his human rights work over the last decade. Harvey is based on Bidjigal country to the west and south of Botany Bay and grew up in country NSW on the land of Gamilaroi people.Description goes here

Madeleine Achenza
Madeleine is a digital campaigner at Solutions for Climate Australia. She recently worked as a breaking news journalist at NewsCorp and is thrilled to be able to put her skills as a storyteller to work in the climate movement. She is studying a Bachelor of Environmental Science and loves learning about the magic of soil and seaweed. She is currently based on Gadigal land in Sydney's inner-west.

Michelle Grady
Michelle is the WA lead for CANA's Solutions for Climate team. Michelle is an experienced campaigner, lobbyist and organisational manager who has worked in environment advocacy, politics, banking, retail and government nationally and globally. Most recently Michelle was the national director for the Pew Charitable Trusts. Based on Whadjuk Noongar land in Perth, Michelle is a proud Ngai Tahu woman with a focus in particular on working with community, stakeholders, scientists and all sides of politics to achieve enduring bipartisan change for a better future for people and planet.
